Keeping Order In The Group!

Following the success of the Labour Party in the local elections we now have a controlling Group of 41 Labour Councillors.

Coming with this group is a few headaches for the Leadership of the Party!. Councillors speaking out of line, missing meetings, getting hot under the collar and the cardinal sin......giving contrary opinion to Labour Group decisions, ooh er!

Big Groups are notorious for being difficult to control, and the Labour Group on this Council will probably be no different.
So to head off trouble before it begins Chief Whip Councillor Paul Sweet has produced a Whips Report which in facts masquerades as being informative but in essence is a warning. Step out of line ....and you can enjoy a one to one with the Chief Whip! Make no mistake this is a heavyweight report drafted by an expert. Chief Whip Sweet states boldly that his paper is nor exhaustive or threatening !

Now he may be Sweet by name but having seen his nature...................well! So Chief Whip I take your missive and understand it, hopefully I will not be called too many times for a cup of tea and a chat. I am quite sure that your comments that you are 'not anticipating any difficulties' is the right one.

I love the line in the report ........' causing difficulty or embarrassment to the Group will be acted upon'. The Whips report has been received and understood bringing to me a real understanding of the this Labour Party interpretation of Sweetness and Light!
