Weblog Saturday

So the week end is upon us again. So much for the weather and the constant drone of weathermen about heatwaves. Woke up this morning to the usual grey skies and rain!

Phil Bateman & Dave Jones

Last night we held our second surgery since the local elections. Held at the Ashmore Park Library on the last Friday of the month. I have held this Surgery since the 80's . Last night though was only the second time that our new Councillor Dave Jones attended.

Dave was obviously keener than I was for when I attended just a minute or so late! he was already surrounded by constituents. Last nights surgery was packed with people just like last months. It is without a doubt a very popular facility with constituents.

We both dealt with a wide range of subjects and at 7.00pm when we closed the doors we then went up to the Ashmore Park Tenants meeting Room for a Wednesfield North Party meeting which finished just after 8.30pm

There is an awful lot to do in our constituency as both Dave and I recognise, the fact that so many people are needing help kind of underlines those facts. Over the week end there is a need for a number of places to be looked at. Information about crime continues to be fed through the Councillors. This in turn is past onto the police, and I am really pleased with the way the new Commander Andy Armstrong has organised his force to provide for our information. Also the feed back that we are now getting is also second to none.

At Wednesfield North Labour Party meeting there were a number of issues that were discussed that have impact upon the area. There is concern about the abuse of the conservation area at Kitchen Lane and the drinking party that takes place. We heard about a little fracas where a youth was 'slapped' following an altercation with a resident!

The Police are aware of what is going on and they have now committed off road motorcycles to the area and the comments from residents were very supportive.
