High Profile Police

Following the problems that the residents of Coppice Farm had been facing, it is good to be able to report that Wednesfield Police has been active and apparently successful in dealing with some of the problems of the anti social behaviour that had become the bane of their lives.
Councillor Phil Bateman said today " I have been reporting on this site for the last year some of the problems of under age drinking , parties, provocative sex sessions, that neighbours facing onto this open space have been having to witness.

Now for a change I am reporting what I believe is good news for residents. Wednesfield Police have beefed up there patrols. The Police have introduced high visibility patrols around the Coppice Farm estate to
combat the reports of anti social behaviour. The G2 part of
the estate in particular Friday and Saturday evenings 2 officers patrol
utilising the robbery van and support by the Special Constabulary.

Any youth identified behaving in a disorderly manner or in possession of alcohol on the
open space is identified.

Residents have noticed a difference, one of the residents have written to me stating that he has " seen the police presence....... from seeing the local press there seems to be a more positive attitude towards an alcohol restricted area and in general the police seem to be showing a much more proactive attitude."

I am pleased that these initiatives have started to have some effect, the presence of police in uniform is a very re-assuring sight for many of my constituents especially the elderly. I am keen that the police should do a little more by using the bus that they have as a mobile police station, in that way the vehicle could prove invaluable in providing an interface with residents in various parts of my Ward, including this estate at Coppice Farm.

The use of the mobile Police Station should and could build upon the good work that the high visibility patrols are achieving. Overall I am extremely pleased that the Commander of Wednesfield Police has seen such early success in his plans to tackle this type of anti social behaviour and crime here."
