Recently I have received a lot of congratulations as the news of my award of the MBE leaked out all sorts of people have been in touch wishing congratulations.

Colleagues from work, the Traffic Commissioner, old school friends, Members of Parliament, constituents and of course family and friends.

Everyone has been so nice it has been very overwhelming, the latest good wishes I have received is from the Canadian High Commissioner he writes;

Dear Mr. Bateman,

As the MBE does not carry a title it is not subject to the request made to the Sovereign not to grant titular honours to Canadians.

Therefore, let me just wish you congratulations and more success and honour to you as a Deputy Mayor and a Canadian .... up to getting a Knighthood!!!
