Police Call Meeting

A meeting is to take place on Wednesday with the local Police Commander . The meeting has been arranged by Chief Superintendent Andy Armstrong who has invited elected Councillors along to hear how he envisages policing our communities.
Councillor Phil Bateman said today " I intend to go along to the meeting to hear how the Commander sees the important job of policing our communities and I hope to get a better understanding of the man and his views.

It is an opportune moment because fresh from an electoral victory and a new set of manifesto commitments hanging on the wall at home.Which reminds me that we have promised to see a positive police and community commitment to help reduce crime and anti social behaviour, here in Wednesfield North.

While local politicians can question and ask how the police intend to operate in an area. There is no way that we can order a police officer to follow issues that affect operational policing. Therefore this meeting will be seen by many as being important as it will give some of us a chance to see how things are going to change in our neighbourhoods."

In Wednesfield North the style and effectiveness of the police is already a very live political issue.
