Coppice Farm Problems

Drinking Party Causes Problems

Some members of the public are more than a little anxious about the actual Policing of the Coppice Farm estate. Indeed there have been letters to the press and to the Local Authorities expressing concerns of late.

Councillor Phil Bateman said “there is a problem here and I have been speaking with residents. Last night I went down to the open space and did see 13 youth early on waiting on the tarmac space just on the Walsall side of the border.

The weather turned to rain and after a half an hour or so they started to disperse. I decided to take a closer look at the lads and the plastic bags that they were carrying. They were drinking by the time I got close to them and I could see that it was Carling Premier Lager and Cider. Nearly all this particular group of lads had these plastic bags.

The weather as I have said grew a little wetter so I drove up to Ashmore Park to see another group of lads 8 this time and 5 girls heading towards the open space this time as well as the plastic bags there was a ‘carton ‘ of Carlton Premier lager in their hands.

They were obviously intent on Party time all looked younger than 18 years of age. The weather was a turn off and I am not sure what happened after I left the area. But residents at Coppice Farm feel very much under siege by these habits.

I have a meeting early next week with the Wednesfield Police Commander and I shall be raising the concerns of residents. It is obviously a very difficult area to police but there does need to be some understanding and effort made to uphold the Queens Peace. Currently residents according to comment published in the newspapers do not believe that this is happening.”
