Coppice Farm

The problems of Coppice Farm estate and the green open space and its management has again reared its head with a very critical letter being written by a local resident in Kington Close to the Wolverhampton Chronicle.

I can understand the frustration and the anger of people forced to watch and to get out of the way of youngsters who will persist in using ill repaired and maintained motor cycles and scooters to tear across the open space making noise and putting other users of the open space in danger.

I am aware as the police are of the problems that erupt from time to time here.

I will also take up the issue again with the police. But what I would like to say to residents is that there has been a huge amount of contact between me and Wednesfield Police concerning the policing of Coppice Farm and the problems of anti social behaviour, underage drinking in the area. Wolverhampton City Council following my urgings arranged for a ‘test purchase’ to take place in local shops that sell alcohol. Two establishments were caught making those purchases and have been dealt with.

At the Ashmore Park Police Liaison Committee meeting this issue was raised and discussed directly with the two local beat officers responsible for Coppice Farm.

I have again written to the police today to emphasise the concern of residents and the need for action by the police.”
