Rent Arrears Increase

Rent arrears in Council Homes in Wolverhampton 2003/4 are running at £895,000 per annum.

Ashmore Park is a large housing estate in the heart of Wednesfield North it is an important source of public housing for local people. There is always a demand for housing in this area. Presently the arrears for the payment of rent on Ashmore Park are standing at £32,568.

Councillor Phil Bateman said today “Rent arrears need tackling and I am sure that everyone would agree with that. It is disappointing that rent arrears have increased by £5,061 which is an 18.40% increase for this year.

A target which was set by the Authority of reducing this amount to £25,000 looks as though it is going to be missed.”
