Wolverhampton Wins Award

Councillor Phil Bateman said " Its good that Wolverhampton has achieved recognition from the Labour Party. We have a City that is developing all the while and whilst we have achieved a lot .We have still more to to do."
This March at the annual awards for Best Practice, Wolverhampton scooped a prestigious prize for best city centre innovation in the battle against Anti Social Behaviour. Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott presented the award to Council leader Roger Lawrence, saying: Congratulations on this excellent achievement, Wolverhampton has set an example to city centres across the country.

Wolverhampton was one of only 10 winners from hundreds of entries across the UK, and Cllr Lawrence gave credit to the new neighbourhood wardens and the city centre marketing company for co-ordinating the various projects across the city which have seen radical improvements in new housing developments and crime reduction.
