No Police Action

Councillor Phil Bateman has today said "Wednesfield police inform me that though they are concerned about the fake identification cards that youngsters are getting hold of off the internet, they are not in a position to tackle the problem."
He went onto say " There is a belief that the selling of these ''novelty'' cards are not breaking the law no matter how authentic they may look.

While they will continue to investigate the situation there is no doubt in my mind that the police feel that tackling the internet selling of these fake I.D''s is too difficult a problem. The issue of under age selling of alcohol is a different matter and the police inform me that they are continuing to act with Trading Standards Officials to deal with shop keepers.

I understand that they will be making shop keepers aware of the potential for use by youngsters of these fake age verification identifications."
