Community Turns Out for Police Meeting

There is a huge investment being made by the Local Community in trust and belief in the work of the local police Councillor Phil Bateman said today. "I hope Senior Officials in West Midlands Police recognise the work that has been on-going within the community to support West Midlands Police."
He went onto say " I'm very pleased to comment on the community action that is taking place in Ashmore Park aimed at supporting the efforts being made by West Midlands Police to provide the community policing that most residents want to see.

The fact is that in three of the most recent public meetings held by the Ashmore Park Police Liaison Committee close to two hundred people have turned out. They have come with information about incidents in their locality they have provided advice and they have requested action to deal with a range of subjects.

Without doubt it is a strong and cohesive community that is active here in Wednesfield. The Police Liaison committee heard that a burglary at the Danesmore School in January had been followed by an arrest. The Liaison Committee was delighted to hear of that particular success.

They also heard a parent governor at the school explain how the school was looking at investing in further preventative measures to try and deter vandals and others using the school for illegal activity, and the efforts that were being introduced to try to reduce the vandalism that was occurring on the site.

The Police left the meeting in no doubt as to strength of feeling that the community had about issues. But also with a strong sense of community that was displayed."

Those that attended the meeting were hoping that a senior police officer would attend the next meeting as there were some issues that were being raised that were of a policy content.
