Ashmore Park Library

The time is right now for a refurbishment of Ashmore Park Library, it is a credit to the staff in that it is really well used, yet they keep it looking really good.

But you cannot help to notice that everything within the Library looks to need refurbishment.

Councillor Phil Bateman said “I am always pleased to attend our local Library it is a very welcoming building and it is always well decorated with children’s work...

But it is clearly in need of attention, It is in need of new windows, furnishings, carpet, re-decoration (inside and out) adaption to the main doors to allow easier wheelchair and pushchair access, I understand that the staff have also requested CCTV and daylight lighting.

The main problem is the water damage caused by rain percolating through the brickwork adjoining the concrete ring beam until this problem is solved the building will continue to deteriorate

I don’t want to see people being put off visiting this very popular Library because the building becomes less comfortable. I am therefore going to campaign for our important Library to receive attention quickly"
