Refuse Collection Service

The difficulties that the City is facing with regard to the waste collection service is being addressed by Councillor Andrew Johnson Cabinet member.

Councillor Johnson admits that the new arrangements for collection are causing problems both for householders and for the staff. He has also set out the plans that the controlling Labour Group had which is to establish a mutually beneficial partnership with a private sector company to provide support services to the core activity. By this we mean vehicles and management support.

Councillor Phil Bateman said “ I know that a lot of people are concerned about the non collection of garbage on the set day, but the Authority are doing all that they can to deal with the situation. Our priority as a City Council is to collect all garbage collected from householders on the set day.

Also what must be underlined is that the City Councils Labour group wants to see improvements through the provision of a workforce directly employed by the City Council.”
