Police Meeting Concern

Ashmore Park Police Liaison Committee were concerned by the uncertainty surrounding the support being offered to them by the police. There had been some strong indications that the police wanted to see the Liaison Committee stand down.
There was a very long and heated debate about this issue with members of the Committee making the point that this meeting was more use to the people of Ashmore Park than any 'Grand Committee' planned by the police to replace it.

The local beat officer who was present, calmed fears that the committee would not receive representation when he assurred them that there was no attempt being made to 'wind the Ashmore Park Police Liaison Committee up' . The Committee heard a report from Councillor Phil Bateman, who explained that he had written to Chief Superintendent Duffin asking if there was any financial support that could be offered the Committee to develop the work of the group. He said " I have written to the Chief, but as yet I have not recieved a response. I am hopeful that when the Chief receives the report of tonights meeting he will see what a useful group this is."
