The Menace of Drugs
Drugs are becoming a real menace in the City and the City Authorities are dealing with the matter in a comprehensive way.But nevertheless there are real worries about the increase in the number of individuals resident in the Drug Action Team area that is requiring help .

There is a 114 % increase in the number of individuals seeking help. and receiving structured treatment in the year.
Public Health Director Dr Phillips said that a great deal was beeing done to educate young people about the dangers of drugs.

"We are getting more referrals into the system and procedures have improved
so that partly explains why the figures have risen so much.

"But there is certainly no room for complacency and there is no doubt it is
a worrying problem."We shall continue to do all we can to treat drug users and educate people into avoiding drugs. "Our figures are high but no worse than anywhere else. I am afraid drug use is a problem throughout the country."
