Grass Verges Get Attention

Grass verges on Ashmore Park are once again under the spotlight as Housing and Regeneration departments along with Ashmore Park Resudents Association tackle the perenial problem of car parking on grass verges.
Councillor Phil Bateman today said " I have been in touch with the estate office as to how they were managing the thorny problem of grass verges. I am attaching the comments that the department made to me in the paragraph below.

Andrew Holden of the Department reports "We held a very constructive meeting on 10th April. It was very useful that an officer from Regeneration was able to attend as the issue involves both Departments. We agreed to produce a questionnaire with explanatory leaflet asking residents for their views on what they would like to see done with grass verges and the under utilised garage sites and to formalate an action plan based on the suggestions received.

Regeneration promised to identify funds to implement the plan and Ashmore Park Residents Association to redefine bids to the minor works budget to assist council tenants.

As a starting point we will be leafleting Peacock Ave and then having a further meeting to discuss findings. The leaflet and questionnaire have been drafted this week with printing shortly anticipated.I will advise you of the date of delivery when known."

Councillor Bateman added " I am pleased with the progress made it is only right that people should have a say on how the estate that they live on is managed."
