Wolverhampton Airport

Wolverhampton Airport is a very emotive subject, bringing the worst out of people sadly. It is a fact that the Airport is making a concerted push for a higher and more important role than it currently plays in the regional economy.

There must be a rational debate about its future status, plans and proposals.

Councillor Phil Bateman said " What I find is rather sad is the fact that the local newspaper is apparently willing to publish letters which are just plain personal attacks on anyone who suggests that this Airport has a role to play in any future regional economy.

Every one has aright to express their views on the airport and those that support the airport appear to be given a much harder time by the media to get their views across.

Of course we have to have a debate and express our views, of course we need to analyse the information and make our own minds up about the facts. But do we really need to launch into insults to get the message across?

And for the record I do support the expansion of a regional airport for the West of the conurbation. You will find my views elsewhere on this web site. As I have published the material that I have submitted to the Department for Transport on this site. I would urge any one with strong views about aviation expansion to get their own views in while they have a chance of influencing the outcome"
