Make the Best in Wolverhampton

“Make the Best in Wolverhampton, Make the Best of Wolverhampton”

“Wolverhampton has to do much more to sell itself than it currently is” says Councillor Phil Bateman.

He went onto say “We know that the City is looking at declining employment levels with projections made that will see total employment [including the self employed] drop from116,800 to113,300. This is drop of 3,900 over a decade.

The City continues to go through structural decline with the manufacturing sector still in the doldrums. We need a City summit of Chief Executives, Bankers, Trade Unionists, the Voluntary Sector Developers and Politicians.

We need to get this City moving. Alter the current image, create a new one. Change the structure and change the culture, improve the quality of life and try and attract new industry, new business and new investment.

Perhaps on the back of the football success, certainly playing to the success of the Wolverhampton City bid. Let’s move on.

I do hope that a Wolverhampton City Summit to tackle all these issues can be called. Let’s enlist the best in Wolverhampton to make the best of Wolverhampton.”
