The grass verges working party is a very important committee it has been set up following encouragement by Councillor Phil Bateman.

Councillor Bateman said today” the grass verges working party is made up of Officers and the Local Residents Association.

I hope that they can come to agreement as to how we can tackle the problem of cars parking on the pavement. The look of the grass verge and how we can improve the street scene.
An Officer has reported to me that the meeting had been a good one and I have reproduced the text of the correspondence for every one to see;

We held a very constructive meeting on 10th April. It was very useful that an officer from regeneration was able to attend as the issue involves both Departments.

We agreed to produce a questionnaire with explanatory leaflet asking residents for their views on what they would like to see done with grass verges and the under utilised garage sites and to formulate an action plan based on the suggestions received.

Regeneration promised to identify funds to implement the plan and Ashmore Park Residents Association to redefine bids to the minor works budget to assist council tenants.

As a starting point we will be leafleting Peacock Ave and then having a further meeting to discuss findings.

The leaflet and questionnaire have been drafted this week with printing shortly anticipated.

I will advise you of the date of delivery when known.
