No City Help For Store

City Taking A Look At Shops

Councillor Phil Bateman had asked the the City Council to look to see if there was any help available to help improve a small shopping centre on the corner of Thomas Mason Close& Wootton Avenue, Springhill Estate, Wednesfield.

He said “this particular unit is valuable to the estate as there is not many other services in the locality. But the unit is looking sad and a touch run down.

I had requested the City Council to look at the unit with a view to seeing if the City Council could help improve it, as I am sure that the residents and the users of the store would benefit.

However the City Councils Economic Development Unit inform me now that the store is in private ownership. Also that while part of the premises look derelict, the new owners hope to expand the business. There is no hope or offer of assistance with building redecoration in the circumstances, the good news is that the trader has informed the City officials that the business is healthy.

I can only wish that the new owners feel some benefit in dealing with the outward appearance of the property and consider a painting programme to 'lift the look of the premises".
