Endometriosis? Read onto find out!

It may seem strange that as a man I am supporting this campaign. But this is a serious issue.
I also want our medical professionals here in the City of Wolverhampton to know all about issues my constituents locally have a major concern about!

Endometriosis is a chronic disease that affects around 2 million women in the UK.

Many of them suffer extreme exhausting pain, infertility, depression and incapacity for work or social interactions. There is no known cause or cure and it is imperative that awareness and understanding of endometriosis is increased.

It currently takes on average 8 years to diagnose which surely cannot be acceptable.

There is a real need to raise awareness of the condition and I have been informed that research funded by Endometriosis UK, that just 20% of the population are aware of the condition. It is estimated to cost industry and commerce £3 billion a year from lost days alone.

I have therefore asked the Director of Public Health in Wolverhampton as to what help we can give within the City to help the awareness campaign. I am waiting for her response.
