Stop Police Privatisation Before Election Has Taken Place!

The reports that the West Midlands Police are to privatise chunks of their operation, whilst the procedure for a newly elected Crime & Police Commissioner still meanders through the process, cannot be right!

The current Police Authority must stop the 'privatisation' until the new Crime and Police Commissioner has been elected by the people of the West Midlands. Only then will any change have any real 'weight' and value to the community.

In fact if the decision was made to continue the privatisation before the election, many of us would feel that we were being truly cheated. Leaving a new Crime and Police Commissioner to 'rubber stamp' such a controversial policy, that action the would be diabolical and plain wrong.
Already there is much concern about the way a Crime and Police Commissioner will re-act. But having made the decision the least the Government can do is to leave the new post holder to make their own decisions. Having said that it is very important that some of these candidates start fleshing out their stance on policy objectives.
