Police and Community Together?

Last night I went to the’ Wednesfield Police and Community Together’ meeting at Jennie Lee Centre in Wednesfield. The PACT meeting as it is called was interesting.
The meeting discussed quite a few issues but the most important statement that came from the officers serving the meeting was the fact that they admitted that the Conservative Governments cuts was to force a change in the way that PACT’s would operate and the pressure that it will put on police numbers locally.
The officers reported that there was a lot of work taking place to amalgamate tasks; even photocopying budgets had been slashed so Minutes and other administrative issues that PACTs supported would not be available in the same form going forward.
It was also explained that the support previously been given by the police through administration of the PACTs was now under review, and personnel changes were taking place.
This is the first signs of Government enforced police budget cuts in local communities.
I raised a number of issues because neighbours are concerned with the speed of vehicles in Broad Lane North and Broad Lane South in the evenings and at weekends when there is a noticeable increase in speed on this highway. The police agreed to take a look at the request. I cannot ask for more than that!
There were a lot of other community concerns raised by the public present Labour Councillors Pinder and Rita Potter were both in attendance and both raised issues relating to crime aspects.
