Secretary of State Visits Wednesfield

Ed Balls was appointed Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families in June of last year he is a prominent member of the Government and
he carries a lot of interest from the national press and media.
This afternoon Wednesday the 16th April I snatched a few words with Secretary of State as he visited the flagship Gem Centre in Wednesfield. As is usual in these situations there were a number of press and media members present who were all keen to button hole him for an interview.

The last time I was in Ed Balls company was last year in West Bromwich so it was good to catch up again.

Luckily I also managed to have a chat with him outside of the Centre after he had made his private visit.! He was very complementary about what he had seen inside the building and was enthusiastic about the briefing that officials had given him.

He also had a few words of encouragement urging me "to win Wednesfield North for Labour again", He spoke with me quietly about other issues and I was quite pleased that he was so impressed with the partnership work that had taken place which in fact had not only constructed the Children's Centre but had been so bold and integrated many of the themes that now deliver the service that medical, education and parents want.

I must admit to have left feelingvery proud of Wednesfield Gem Centre and of the personal encouragement offered to me by the Secretary of State.
