31 Youths Identitfied & Facing Interview With Parents

Councillor Phil Bateman said "I want to start this information note to constituents on Ashmore Park with praise for the police team and the anti social behaviour unit of both Wolverhampton City Council and Wolverhampton Homes."

Through out the winter I have criticised the Police and the Authorities for not providing enough information about the activity taking place to curb the criminal damage and anti social behaviour that has been taking place.

I can tell you now that I think that the work that these two departments have involved themselves in with their partners West Midlands Police has been exceptional.

I am now informed that 31 individual youths have been identified and within this cohort 14 key perpetrators of youth nuisance have been written to requesting that the parent or guardian attend interviews.

I have been given much more information but I think that it is important that you the public know that action is being taken now. Align this information to the most recent police notice I placed on the site, where Inspector Turley re-assured that criminal damage was down past its peak in December to more usual levels, and the signs are good going forward.

The extra tasking and the priority work looks to be paying off. I will keep everyone informed of developments as I am updated.
I was sickened to read of the two youths in tonight's Express and Star that inflicted so much pain and suffering on the horse in the field in Essington.

I must be like thousands of others in Wednesfield North and across the Country left wondering how such depraved young men could get kicks out of causing so much suffering to this poor animal. The owner of the pony is clearly very distressed and I offer her my sympathy.

I felt ashamed that these two youths were part of our community. I have to say that I do hope the sentence that is handed down is commensurate with this appalling crime.

This is not the role model that we want for young men in our society. Congratulations to the police for the detective work and the appearance in Court of these two despicable young men."
