Police Should Inform The Community

"I am writing this with the knowledge that there is quite a lot of low level crime taking place in Wednesfield North. "
Councillor Phil Bateman went onto say "By that I mean the sort of crime that drives residents mad, stones being thrown at windows. Stones being thrown at buses.

Bus shelters smashed.Fences and fence panels kicked and broken. Garages attacked and trashed and anti social behaviour taking place late into the night.

All of these incidents and more have taken place in Wednesfield North in December.

The community is getting very restless about these incidents. In trying to understand what is taking place I have asked the police a number of questions.

I think it is important that the police should converse with us. Explain what actions they are taking and what success they are having. How many of the incidents have been traced and how many charges have been lain against those guilty of causing criminal damage etc.

Sadly the police seem reluctant to provide the information, yet they expect full help in dealing with the issues that take place.

I believe that the police are their own worst enemies in not telling people of their success. If the community knows they are being successful in tackling this crime, I am sure that they will also respond with more confidence."
