Well Done West Midlands Police!

Councillor Phil Bateman said "The police are often criticised about their actions or none actions by our community."

He Added "But here in Wednesfield I am impressed by the operation of their Neighbourhood Initiatives Fund. This Fund is arrived at by money raised by seized property .

So what we have here in operation is 'crime money' now resourcing community schemes. Now I like this approach and Superintendent Sally Bourner and Inspector Jon Turley from Wednesfield Police awarded some of our local community groups with resources from that new community funding earlier in the year.

I know for instance that the Mechanics Club at Ashmore Park received funding. The Healthy Life Style Club -Ashmore Park also received funding as did the local Wednesfield Scouts for a jetty to be built .

Each of these groups received close on £4,000! A very sizeable sum of money.

So if there are other community groups operating within Wednesfield North and who feel that they could benefit from funding of this sort you are now aware of this initiative.

An application to the Wednesfield and Fallings Park Local Neighbourhood Partnership is the way forward. Contact tessa.meek@dial.pipex.com

The Partnership will ensure the application reaches West Midlands Police and you just never know your group may well be the next recipients of similar funding."
