Only 17 House Burglary's

Councillor Bateman said "Crime on Beat 17 we are informed is going down. The police informed last nights meeting at Jenny Lee Centre that there had been a reduction in home burglary between 7th June and August 2nd.
Only 17 house burglary's had taken place during this period. There were 46 other burglaries which included business and sheds etc.

The police reported that they had arrested and had in custody a person that was responsible for a lot of the crime in this category and locking him up and reduced the episodes considerably. There had been 35 vehicle crimes and 40 assaults. The police tried to re assure residents that the assaults were recorded, but many of them were minor affairs and 'domestics'?!

Also reported were 9 robberies and which included pedal bikes being taken. The police also offered crime prevention advice and urged residents present to lock windows and doors when they leave their homes, or work in the garden.

Beat 17 is a huge area and covers the heart of the Village where much activity takes place. They were genuinely pleased that they could report low levels of crime in what must be one of the biggest beat's in the East of Wolverhampton.

It was also pleasing to note that the police appear to have apprehended 'metal thieves' whilst they have been robbing lead from roof's .
