Report These Incidents To The Police

Crime and vandalism is a major concern for society and here in Wednesfield we are not immune from the destructive actions that are taking place. It is demoralising when after arguing and campaigning so hard to improve local facilities, ugly incidents occur that take you back to square one.
Councillor Dave Jones today said he was "shocked at the latest news that he had heard concerning the severe vandalism that has occurred both on the Ashmore Park playing fields and other play equipment in Wednesfield."

He added " the fact of the matter is that we we seem to be fighting a losing battle when it comes to providing facilities for young people. Two slides have been stolen from the children's play area on the Park and the springy toy badly vandalised. The Police have been involved as the slides were professionally removed, and unfortunately the play area will have to remain closed until the slides can be replaced. This will particularly affect the younger children who use these sorts of facilities and get a great deal of enjoyment out of them.

It really goes with out saying. But if there is anyone who spotted people removing this slide or vandalising the play area please contact the local police station.

Failing that contact crimestoppers on 0800555111 and inform them anonymously of the offenders details. The community must come together on this some one will have information."

Councillor Phil Bateman also contributing to the comments added " One of the skate boarders who regularly contact me were asking who the men on the park were who were there with 'clip boards'

They were the safety inspectors who were involved with the 'Playground Inspection
Company'. They have just completed the independent annual safety checks
of all play equipment and skating areas in all Wolverhampton Parks and Open
Spaces. They were looking at the skate board surface to report any problems
found with the skating surfaces during their inspections.

The regular Skatepark maintenance team are to inspect the ramps again.

Because of reports of some type of lubricants being used to cover the skate board ramps the maintenance team is going back to have a closer look. I am reliably informed that there have never been any reports of this nature before.

The maintenance team will therefore check the ramps for safety and ensure nothing has been poured overt them ie. Oil/lubricant.

If anything is found Leisure Services will arrange for it to be cleaned straight away."
