Canada Day In The UK

Canada Day is being celebrated in London alongside Canada House in Trafalgar Square this year, so London will be joining Wolverhampton in celebrating Canada's birthday! Now how about that!
Last year during my Mayoral year there were schools competitions and in the evening a dinner was held in the Mayor's Parlour where the Canadian Consul Mr David Birch was the main speaker. Wolverhampton business and political community was also invited and the business discussed led to a later visit to the City from the High Commissioner himself.

There is much business being done in Wolverhampton with Canada currently, some of the biggest industrial and commercial names in Wolverhampton are trading with partners in Canada. These includes Carillon, Goodrich, Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries.

Continuing to reach out to Canada who are members of the G8 is not only a sensible and rational way to develop and help our local business, but it also helps with our City image. No other City in this area is making any other similar type initiative, and I genuinely believe that Wolverhampton will gain much from this different approach.

Our current Mayor Councillor John Davis has been very supportive and is to host a dinner in the evening of the 30th June the day before Canada Day."
