Bateman Chases Enhanced Canadian Links!

I am keen to see the links that have been developed between Wolverhampton and Canada during my Mayoral Year continue and expand. In the course of the last 12 months we have had both the Canadian Consul and the Canadian High Commissioner speaking here in Wolverhampton about trade culture and commerce between Canada and the UK
I am enthusiastic to see these links expand and friendship lead to even more trade between Wolverhampton and Canada.

During this year we have found that many city firms alrready have trade with Canada. Aerospace is one of the succesful areas of trade. Construction and services are another area, and one of the nations leading firms who have their Headquarters here in Wolverhampton Carillion. They have a £100m order book looking after Alberta's Highways. Plus they are they are building two new hospitals in Ontario. Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries are another big city company with trade links and products being sold in Canada and there are others!

Trade involves jobs and that leads to prosperity so I am investigating ways that can bring benefit to our city and create the sort of linkages that Wolverhampton and Canada can develop! I have requested the Leader of the Council consider me as the Enterprise Champion for the City.

Even if that request fails I still have some other ideas that I am considering.
