Ceremony of Light

As Deputy Mayor and Mayoress Phil and Mary Bateman rounded off a full week-end of engagements in Telford last night Sunday.

This followed Remembrance Day ceremonies in Wednesfield on Sunday morning
the evening in Oakengates Theatre was hosted by the Mayor of Telford Councillor & Mrs Jim Hicks. The event was attended by Civic Heads from across Shropshire and involved the British Legion.

The ceremony is in memory of those who paid the supreme scrifice in the defence of the Country. During the service a candle will be lit for each individual whose name was read from the Roll of Honour.

The service was magnificent and was lead by the Abraham Darby School orchestra. Which was simply magnificent. Telford should be very proud of them.

It was a very impressive service and hymns were sung with great gusto, we were very impressed with the whole service. It was good meeting old friend Bruce Grocutt and David Wright MP.
