Black History Celebrations

Last night The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress were invited to Pendeford High School in the City to celebrate Black History.Put on by the Kuumba Arts Movement.
Councillor Phil Bateman the Deputy Mayor of Wolverhampton in opening the night music and drama said "I am delighted that I am able to join with you tonight at this celebration of Black History.

I am looking forward not only to be entertained but also to be taught. I am enthralled by the information that I have been given as part of my briefing for tonight so I am looking forward to seeing the vitality and energy being exercised here in an artistic and educational way.

I understand that we are lucky to have the Kuumba Arts Movement here in Wolverhampton and that the reason we have is because of a very special Citizen Tonia Campbell who has done much to bring this group alive. Can I say that I do believe that through education and the arts we can transform people, our City and our local economy.

Both Myself and the Deputy Mayoress have been looking forward to tonight and rather than delay proceeding''s by talking too much can I say ''On with the Show''

The show was magnificent as it depicted famous black people through out history and the deeds that they had done to make the world a better place to live. With children acting singing and dancing itwas a truly great night. Macka B an international reggae star also took part in what was a night of pure Wolverhampton talent played to a packed audience
