Wednesfield War Memorial Update -The latest information that I have suggests that the new scheme and Memorial will be in place in time for Remembrance Sunday in November, which is really good news for Wednesfield. It is just the time that we want to be able to stand and pay our tributes to those heroic Villagers who gave up so much to make this land the place that it is.

We should have new pathways and a fine refurbished War Memorial for this ceremony. I will certainly keep my fingers crossed that everything goes well as the marble that has been requisitioned to enhance the current memorial is at the moment on the high seas, making its way by freighter from India where it has been hewn from the ground!

British tradesmen and stone masons will fashion the marble that will then finally stand in the Garden of Remembrance. I am sure that the Wednesfield Royal British Legion, TocH, and Wednesfield residents will be delighted at the progress we have made.

Post Office Stubby Lane latest Position- I have protested about closure plans as many residents use the Post Office from Wyvern Park.

Whitehouse Crescent- I have had a number of complaints made to me about the problems of ball games on this piece of green. I wrote to the Authority setting out the difficulties residents told me about at the Ashmore Park Police Consultative Committee. I can now report that two NO BALL GAME signs are to be erected at either end of the grassed area to warn the youths of the use of a ball in this area. Residents I am sure will be pleased at the response received to their request."

Ashmore Park Shops- Raised the issue with Officers about the riding of bikes at the shopping parade. City Council are to look at raising the issue with the local police.
Hodson House- Security lights were out I am obviously concerned that residents can wait three weeks in this sort of housing complex with a key security device not working.

Residents have told me that they feel un-nerved by this light failure so I am making a direct appeal to 'the bosses'. Can some one check the systems out, this should be part of a regular inspection regime? I am at a loss to understand why residents should feel that they have to make a direct appeal to their Councillor on an issue such as this.

I do hope that there will be written response concerning the action that Wolverhampton Housing Department will now take, to ensure regular inspections take place at the complex. Also the security Light is dealt with as a matter of urgency.

Grass Cutting I have complained a number of times about Grass Cutting across the Ward. It has not been good, and it has not been of the standard that this area demands. I have written to the Local Authority and will be raising the issue again with them. I certainly want to see improvements in the way that this service is delivered.
