Prosecution May Follow

An accumulation of years of rubbish in a footpath leading to a disused allotment in Blackham Road Ashmore Park is set to be cleared by specialist contractors the City Council has announced.
Councillor Phil Bateman said " I have been pressing the City Council on this matter before the elections in May. Now I have been informed that a contract has been let. The waste disposal contractor will be commencing to remove the rubbish on 16th June, the work taking approximately three days to complete. The cost of this operation will be £850 and the charge levied against the housing revenue account.

The contractor has been advised that if we can identify the source of any of this rubbish then the City Council will commence legal action against any of the individuals concerned.

This is a very costly exercise and will be welcomed by some and no doubt viewed with worry by those persons that have added to its ever growing volume. Vermin and smells will no doubt escape when the rotting pile is disturbed. But it is a health hazard and I look forward to its complete removal".
Wednesfield North Labour Party and Councillor Phil Bateman have been campaigning for environmental clean ups across the Ward for sometime now.
