May2003 Report to Ashmore Park Residents Ass

Councillor Phil Bateman Report to Ashmore Park Residents Association; May 7 2003.

I thought that it important to start my report with a personal tribute to Gwen Stafford Good. I think that you will agree with me that she was a very good local Councillor for Wednesfield North. She certainly helped this association and many of the individual members.

I am sorry that she lost and I would like to place on record my thanks to her for helping to make Wednesfield North a better place to live and work and raise your kids.

After the last meeting I raised a number of issues that were on the Agenda, and managed to get action. The rubbish on the car park at Blackham has been removed.

I have received assurance that the rubbish in the allotment has been contracted to be removed by a specialist firm. The abandoned cars on Griffith Drive and one of the cars in Peacock Ave have been dealt with.

The abandoned car in Whiston Avenue garage has also been removed as has the abandoned car on the True Briton.

I have raised the issue of crime on Ashmore Park and I have also arranged for the police to patrol the canal at Devils Elbow following resident’s complaints.

The Alley way at Chilton Grove is under scrutiny from Regeneration with a view to closing it because of the anti social behaviour taking place up there.

Ashmore Park Youth Club has more staff will open longer and I have arranged for the graffiti to be removed from inside the sports barn.

Finally you can keep up to date in Wednesfield North by logging into my web site on www.philbateman.com ; If you haven’t a computer pop into the library and the librarian will log you on at no cost and you can keep up with the news on my site about Ashmore Park on a daily basis.
